Ontario is where a new HVAC website meets the most competition and the most specific rules. The Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa and Hamilton are crowded search markets with established companies, and Ontario's regulators are explicit about who may do and advertise certain work. A new Ontario site has to be precise about licences and rebates from the first day, and it needs service pages deep enough to compete.
The market your new site enters
Ontario's largest communities include Toronto, Ottawa, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, London, Markham and Vaughan. In the GTA, a new site competes with companies that have years of content and hundreds of reviews. Outside the big cities, the competition thins and a well-structured site can make faster progress.
Heating fuel is mostly gas. Per Statistics Canada, gas was the main heat for 58% of Ontario homes in 2023, electricity for 18% and propane for 4%. Propane matters in rural Ontario, where it may deserve a mention on furnace pages.
A typical Ontario Professional plan:
- Gas furnaces, replacement and repair, on separate pages in competitive cities
- Cold-climate heat pumps, with a dated rebate section
- Air conditioning, a large summer market in southern Ontario
- Water heaters, including rental replacement questions homeowners often ask
- Boilers and hydronic heating, if you service them
- Area pages for distinct communities, never town-name swaps
When to launch in Ontario
Southern Ontario has cold winters moderated near the Great Lakes, and hot summers that make air conditioning a second busy season. Northern Ontario has longer, colder winters.
That gives southern companies two windows: launch in spring to catch AC season, or in late summer to catch heating. A Professional build at 3–4 weeks plus prep means starting about six weeks before the season you want.
Regulators to reference
Ontario's rules are among the clearest in Canada, and they affect what a website says.
- TSSA registers fuels contractors. Only TSSA-registered contractors may do fuels-related work, using certified gas technicians.
- ESA licenses electrical contractors, and according to ESA only licensed contractors may bid on or advertise electrical work. If your site lists anything electrical, confirm your status with ESA first.
- Skilled Trades Ontario handles trade certification, and WSIB is the workers' compensation board.
We link and summarise; we don't give compliance advice. Confirm with TSSA and ESA what your site should show.
Programs worth a dated page
As of October 2026, Ontario has two programs homeowners ask about. Date every mention and link the administrator.
- Home Renovation Savings Program. Run by Save on Energy and Enbridge Gas with provincial support. Rebates include up to $7,500 for a cold-climate air source heat pump and up to $12,000 for ground source, with bundled envelope upgrades after a home energy assessment. As of 2026-10-22 there was no closure notice on the official page.
- Energy Affordability Program. Free upgrades for income-eligible households, including a stream offering free cold-climate heat pumps for eligible oil-heated homes, which Save on Energy describes as available for a limited time. See the program page.
Rebate pages are among the most-visited on Ontario HVAC sites, which is why they need careful dating and regular review.
Launch-week check for Ontario sites
We read every service page against your actual registrations before an Ontario launch. A page that lists panel work, or a rebate page that names a program you aren't enrolled in, is the kind of error a competitor or a regulator can notice. Then we test the site on a phone from a GTA suburb, because that's where most first visits will happen.
How we'd approach an Ontario launch
In the GTA or Ottawa, an Essential site gets you credible quickly but struggles to compete for broad terms. Most established Ontario companies fit Professional, and multi-branch companies covering several regions fit Enterprise. Our group also runs HVAC.Digital for Ontario HVAC marketing, alongside HVAC.Agency.
Roma Heating & Cooling grew organic traffic 400% in 12 months, a reminder that search growth in a competitive market builds over quarters. See all regions on the areas page, or contact us.
Frequently asked questions
Can my HVAC site advertise electrical work in Ontario?
Be careful. According to ESA, only licensed electrical contractors may bid on or advertise electrical work. If you aren't an ESA Licensed Electrical Contractor, check with ESA before your site mentions services like panel upgrades.
Is the Ontario heat pump rebate still open?
As of 2026-10-22, the Home Renovation Savings Program showed no closure notice on official pages, with cold-climate air source heat pump rebates of up to $7,500. Date any mention and link Save on Energy, because terms can change.
Do you work with HVAC.Digital on Ontario builds?
HVAC.Digital is one of our group's brands, focused on Ontario. For a fast-launch site we use the same packages and timelines; the Ontario-specific detail goes into your content.
