A British Columbia HVAC website has to work for two different provinces in one. On the southwest coast, winters are mild and wet and heat pumps are a common conversation; in the Interior and the North, the heating season is longer and colder and furnaces and boilers carry more of the load. The right page plan depends on which of those markets you serve, and many BC companies serve both.
The market your new site enters
BC's largest communities are concentrated in the Lower Mainland and the capital region: Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam and Saanich, with Abbotsford in the Fraser Valley and Kelowna in the Okanagan. Search competition for common HVAC terms is heaviest around Metro Vancouver, where a new site meets established competitors on day one.
Heating fuel shapes the page plan. In 2023, according to Statistics Canada, 42% of BC households used natural gas for their primary heating system and 36% used electricity. That near split is why we rarely recommend a BC site with a single "heating" page.
A typical BC Professional build might include:
- Heat pumps (ducted and ductless as separate sections or pages)
- Gas furnaces, and boilers if you service hydronic systems
- Combi boilers, common in townhouses and older homes
- Water heaters, tank and tankless
- Air conditioning for Interior summers
- Area pages for the two or three municipalities where you do most work
When to launch in BC
Time the launch to the season you most want to capture. Coastal heat pump interest is steadier through the year than furnace demand, but the first cold, wet weeks of autumn still bring a wave of no-heat calls. In the Interior, the run-up to winter matters more.
Working back: a Professional build takes 3–4 weeks once your inputs are in, so starting in late summer gives the site time to be indexed before demand rises.
Regulators to reference
Your site's credibility depends on getting licence and certification details right. These are the bodies to know; we link them and you confirm the wording.
- Technical Safety BC is the body behind gas and electrical contractor licences in BC; its remit also reaches boilers, pressure vessels and refrigeration.
- SkilledTradesBC runs Skilled Trades Certification, which now covers trades HVAC companies rely on, including gasfitters, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics, and sheet metal workers.
- WorkSafeBC is the workers' compensation board.
Programs worth a dated page
As of October 2026, BC has active programs that homeowners ask about, but they've changed recently. Write about them carefully.
- CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program. Income-qualified rebates for heat pumps, heat pump water heaters and envelope work. Its rules changed for invoices dated on or after 2026-07-06; some rebates were removed and eligibility narrowed in places. Check the program page before quoting anything.
- Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program, BC delivery. An agreement announced 2026-06-29 funds no-cost retrofits for lower-income households through BC Hydro and FortisBC, according to the federal backgrounder.
A rebates page should say "as of [month year]", link each administrator, and tell visitors to confirm eligibility directly. Confirm with the administrator yourself before launch.
Launch-week check for BC sites
Before a BC site goes live, we read every heat pump and rebate sentence against the program page one last time, because the July 2026 rule changes left a lot of outdated copy on the web. We also confirm that each service-area community actually appears in your Google Business Profile, and that coastal and Interior pages don't contradict each other on response times. Small checks, but they're the ones a sharp-eyed homeowner in Kelowna or Burnaby notices.
How we'd approach a BC launch
For a single-city company on the coast, a 5–7 page Essential site with heat pump, gas heating and repair pages is often enough to start. For companies covering the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley, or the Okanagan and the Interior, the Professional package gives each service and the key communities their own pages.
Proof from close to home helps. GasBoilers.ca, a gas-boiler division we built for CANRO Heat, serves 26+ BC communities and holds 5.0★ from 76+ Google reviews. It's a useful model for BC companies with a hydronic specialty.
See all regions on the areas page, check the launch checklist, or contact us with your service towns.
Frequently asked questions
Should a Vancouver HVAC site lead with heat pumps or gas?
Lead with whatever your customers actually buy from you, then give the other its own page. On the coast many buyers compare both, so separate heat pump and gas furnace or boiler pages usually work better than one combined heating page.
Can I put CleanBC rebate amounts on my site?
You can, if you date them and link the program page. The Energy Savings Program changed its requirements for invoices dated on or after 2026-07-06, so any amounts written before then may be out of date.
Do I need to show my Technical Safety BC licence on the site?
We don't advise on what you must display. Gas and electrical contractor licences in BC come from Technical Safety BC, so read its guidance yourself and tell us the wording you want shown.
