Launching an HVAC website in Manitoba

Manitoba has one of the longest heating seasons in southern Canada and a real split between gas and electric heat, so a new site needs furnace, electric and heat pump pages that don't blur together.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

Manitoba's heating season is among the longest in southern Canada, and the province is split between gas and electric heat more evenly than its Prairie neighbours. That makes a new HVAC site here a little more complex than a furnace-only build: you need clear pages for gas furnaces, for electrically heated homes, and for heat pumps, which have an active provincial rebate behind them.

The market your new site enters

Most Manitoba HVAC searches come from Winnipeg; outside it, Brandon and Steinbach lead, with Winkler, Portage la Prairie and Thompson serving wide surrounding areas. A Winnipeg company competes with many established firms, so its service pages need real depth. Companies in the smaller centres often serve a wide rural area, and their service area pages should say so plainly.

The split is real: Statistics Canada data for 2023 puts gas as the main heat in 52% of Manitoba homes and electricity in 33%. A site that only talks about gas furnaces speaks to half the market.

A Manitoba page plan to consider:

  • Gas furnace replacement and repair
  • Heating options for electrically heated homes (furnaces, boilers and baseboard alternatives)
  • Cold-climate air source heat pumps, ducted and ductless
  • Air conditioning, for hot prairie summers
  • Maintenance plans
  • A dated rebates page

When to launch in Manitoba

With a long, very cold winter, Manitoba's no-heat season starts early and lasts. Launch by late summer if you can. An Essential build takes 2–3 weeks and Professional 3–4, plus your prep time, so July or August starts are ideal.

Heat pump buyers often research earlier than furnace emergencies, so a heat pump page published in spring or summer has time to gather search visibility before the fall decision period.

Regulators to reference

Manitoba's technical oversight for gas and oil work sits with the province's fire office.

We link and summarise only. Check with the Office of the Fire Commissioner on what your site should show.

Programs worth a dated page

As of October 2026, Manitoba has more active heat pump support than most provinces. Mention it with dates and links:

  • Efficiency Manitoba Air Source Heat Pump Rebate. $2,000 for a centrally ducted cold-climate unit or $1,500 for ductless, in existing primary residences. There is also a $100 supplier bonus, for registered suppliers only, when the application includes an F280 heat-load calculation and is made before 2027-03-31. See the Efficiency Manitoba page.
  • Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program, Manitoba delivery. Manitoba signed the first CGHAP agreement, announced 2025-09-12, funding no-cost direct-install retrofits for low- to median-income households through Efficiency Manitoba, according to the federal announcement.

The federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability program closed to new Manitoba applicants on 2026-07-31.

If you are a registered supplier for Efficiency Manitoba, your rebate page can say so, linked to the program. Confirm eligibility details with the administrator before launch.

Launch-week check for Manitoba sites

On Manitoba builds we check that the gas, electric and heat pump pages each link to the others, because many visitors arrive on the wrong one first. A homeowner with baseboards who lands on the furnace page should be one tap from the right answer. We also confirm whether you're a registered Efficiency Manitoba supplier before any page says so.

How we'd approach a Manitoba launch

For a Winnipeg company selling furnaces, heat pumps and AC across the city and a few nearby communities, Professional gives each heating type its own page. A smaller company in Brandon or Steinbach can start with Essential and add a heat pump page as demand grows.

See all regions on the areas page, read the page-count scoping guide, or contact us.

Frequently asked questions

Should a Winnipeg HVAC site promote heat pumps?

If you install them, yes. As of October 2026 Efficiency Manitoba lists rebates of $2,000 for a centrally ducted cold-climate air source heat pump and $1,500 for ductless, which gives homeowners a reason to ask. Date and link any amounts you show.

My customers heat with electric baseboards. Is that worth a page?

Often, yes. A third of Manitoba households heat mainly with electricity, and many of them are looking at alternatives. A page explaining options for electrically heated homes speaks directly to them.

Who licenses gas and oil tradespeople in Manitoba?

The Office of the Fire Commissioner issues permits and tradesperson licences under The Gas and Oil Burner Act, and electrician licences. Link it and confirm the wording you show.
